JD is a Director of Project Management at Verdical Group, after completing a 5-year professional degree in Architecture at Mississippi State University, JD worked on the architectural design side of the building industry. JD holds a master of business administration (MBA) with special studies in sustainable business and renewable energy from Marylhurst University. His understanding of the integrative design perspective and its potential impact on business operations make him a unique and valuable asset to project teams.

Prior to Verdical, JD was a Project Architect, Project Manager, and Sustainability Coordinator at the global design firm, CannonDesign. At CannonDesign, he worked on master planning, programming, design, construction documentation, construction administration, LEED and sustainability projects. JD’s role as Western Region Sustainability Coordinator gave him experience in the oversight of sustainable design for projects based in the firm’s Los Angeles, San Francisco, Phoenix, Vancouver, and Victoria offices. Management of this design portfolio in addition to internal sustainability initiatives including the AIA 2030 Commitment, carbon footprint management, and office sustainability action plans enabled him to focus on the alignment of design process and operational policies. JD also served as Project Architect and Project Manager for design teams including the LA Mission College Health PE & Fitness Center and San Diego State University’s Conrad Prebys Aztec Student Union – soon to become the world’s first LEED Platinum certified student union. Other notable LEED certifications managed by JD include CSU Long Beach Fitness Center, Cal Poly San Luis Obispo Recreation Center, UC Riverside Recreation Center, UCSD Jacobs Medical Center Tower and Central Plant, and the Kraemer Radiation Therapy Building for Kaiser Permanente. Prior to joining CannonDesign, JD was an Architect at EE&K Architects, HNTB Architecture, and other major firms where he worked on a range of project types including retail, hospitality, K-12 education, higher education, museum, municipal, federal government, aviation, sports and recreation, commercial office, healthcare, historic preservation, ecclesiastical, and residential buildings. JD is a LEED Accredited Professional (AP BD+C), member of the American Institute of Architects, and holds a Construction Documents Technologist (CDT) certificate from the Construction Specifications Institute. JD is also a member of the USGBC Los Angeles Chapter.
